Art. 1 – WHAT IS ADRIATIC MARATHON

The Adriatic Marathon is a solo non-stop ultracycling event. The start and finish of the Adriatic Marathon is established in Francavilla al Mare (CH).

Those who complete the course within the time limit will receive a prize and a finisher medal.

The route is established by the organization and is approximately 1200 km long, and is spread over urban and suburban roads open to traffic. All participants have an obligation to comply with the highway code.

ART. 2 – HOW TO PARTICIPATE

The Adriatic Marathon can be performed in several categories:

1) SOLO  self supported

2) SOLO with assistance

3) PAIR self supported

4) PAIR with assistance

5) TEAM 2 with assistance (2 athletes)

6) TEAM 4 with assistance (4 athletes)

Single categories 1) and 2) will be both male and female, the other categories will not be identified based on the gender of the participants.

For those who complete the registration procedure (including payment), an additional 10% discount will be reserved by 29 February 2020

The registration procedure, with all required documents, have to completed within September 3, 2020; we’ll not accept registration after this date due to management reasons and we’ll take out from the start list everybody (also cyclists pre-registrate in time) that will not send in time all the required documents.

After registration/payment we don’t accept cancellation and don’t refund money.

ART. 3 – NO DRAFT

It is allowed to proceed in the wake of the couples categories 3) and 4) only; for the other categories are no draft.

ART. 4 – MODE WITH ASSISTANCE

By assistance (categories 2), 4), 5), and 6)), we mean the possibility of using a means of support along the track, which provides for the cyclist’s needs. The support vehicle and the cyclist can only come into contact in areas where it is allowed to park the vehicle, without disturbing road traffic, in compliance with the Security Council. The cyclist cannot be followed or preceded at a distance of less than 50 m

ART. 5 – PHYSICAL SUITABILITY

Participants must have a certificate of physical fitness for ultra-endurance sporting activities.

ART. 6 – THE TRACK AND THE NAVIGATION

The Adriatic Marathon route will be provided in gpx format to all participants and the Roadbook will be provided. Any changes in the route during the event for unforeseen events that make it impossible to proceed on the original route (temporary closure of a road, authorized events, etc.), will be communicated and agreed with the cyclists by the organization.

All cyclists will be equipped with a GPS tracking system that will allow you to know their position in real time.

ART. 7 – FAIRNESS AND FAIR PLAY

Violations of the regulation and unsportsmanlike conduct may be sanctioned by the organization with the exclusion from the order of arrival.

ART. 8 – MAXIMUM TIME

The maximum time to be considered finisher of the Adriatic Marathon is as follows:

1) Solo self supported      72 hours
2) SOLO                                   62 hours
3) Pair self supported      65 hours
4) PAIR                                     62 hours
5) TEAM 2 (2 athletes)     55hours
6) TEAM 4 (4 athletes)     51 hours

ART. 9 – TIME STATIONS

On the route there will be 5 control and refreshment points (Time Station), where the participants will mark their passage; drop-bags will be provided to Time Stations for participants without assistance.

ART. 10 – SAFETY DEVICES

During the event, the cyclist must wear an approved helmet and the bicycle must be equipped respecting the safety equipment provided by the highway code (front and rear lights, reflectors).

For safety reasons it is suggested to have: 1) reflective stickers on the external side of the wheels; 2) reflective stickers behind the saddle; 3) reflective adhesive behind the shoes; 4) high visibility reflective belt band.

ART. 11 – AWARDS

All participants will receive an event pack and the official pole of the Adriatic Marathon before departure, the finishers will be awarded medals and / or trophies.

At the end of the event, the list of finishers and times taken will be announced.
